Double pole!

20th October 2007

Jon hit the Estoril track running this morning, and wasted little time demonstrating the outright pace needed, to secure pole position for race one later this afternoon (Saturday).

"The first set of tyres was good, but my second set was better. As you know I was quickest on Thursday, but we lost our way a bit yesterday. The car had potential though, and once we were back on similar settings to the previous day, it was straight-forward from there. The car had more front-end this morning and that gave me pole for the first race today around 6/100ths quicker than my team-mate. Dusted!"

Jon continued with his lapping consistency by initially setting the second fastest time for race two on Sunday. The driver who topped the time-sheets though fell under investigation for overtaking under a yellow flag. By early afternoon the Stewards had applied a penalty for that indiscretion, which promoted Jon into pole position for tomorrow's round of the Eurocup series.

"It was a fantastic qualifying for me," Jon said, "and I feel really confident for both races."
